From CATIE: Extraordinary World AIDS Day Exhibit

World AIDS Day is December 1

Every year on December 1, special focus is placed on the global fight on HIV/AIDS. This year, in honour of the occasion, Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange (CATIE) is very pleased to be hosting in Toronto a remarkable new program that we havedeveloped in collaboration with a support organization in southern Africa called REPSSI. Titled “Body Mapping: Women Navigating the Positive Experience in Africa,” it is an extraordinary display of Body Maps—self-portraits by women living with HIV/AIDS in Africa.

These images, brought to Canada for a limited time only, are the result of an education project in Africa to enable positive women through the creation of art to better understand HIV and its treatment, combat stigma, improve personal coping strategies and share their wisdom.
